Wellington South
A fifteen minute drive at the most into downtown, Wellington’s southern suburbs offer a huge variety in landscapes, people and things to do.
Newtown borders the city. It’s a melting pot of cultures and styles which appeals to those who like a cosmopolitan, eclectic neighbourhood. It’s home to Wellington Hospital too, attracting residents who work there.
Move further south you can have a haven with stupendous views over Cook Strait and toward the South Island from Houghton Bay and Owhiro Bay. If you prefer to stay on the flat and want a family friendly environment but still within reach of the sea, Island Bay could be for you.
Wellington’s south coast feels like a million miles from a capital city. It never really gets that crowded either, so you have space to spread out your picnic blanket and enjoy watching the ferries go by.
